My Music

Finding My Voice, Pushing My Limits

I've been composing since I started learning to play piano. At first, I was just figuring out how to string chords together in a way that sounded nice—next thing I knew, those harmonies had melodies, and before long, I was creating simple, complete pieces of music. My music has always relied heavily on inspiration from the beauty of nature, and with each new piece I'm searching for innovative ways to express this beauty within the confines of musical messages.

I played my pieces at school events periodically throughout middle school and high school, and it became clear to me that music was not just a pastime, it could also be a full-time job. I started looking into Bachelor of Music programs, and settled on Illinois Wesleyan University. While attending IWU, I had the pleasure of working with numerous teachers and mentors, all for the betterment of my musicianship and artistic voice. I was introduced to a much wider world of music than I thought existed when I was singing in my high school choir. From renaissance to modernism, and even jazz, college level music has brought me such a wealth of diverse experience.

Now, I have been blessed with the opportunity to make a career out of what I love to do. Thank you for reading, and please enjoy a selection of recordings of my compositions. Currently, I am featuring the works from my senior recital, which took place on April 16th, 2022.

Playing the Works of Great Composers

Like any musician, I will never cease to be fascinated by the wide variety of music the classical world has to offer. That's why I'm always working on learning something new, from Bach to Mozart and from Liszt to Ligeti. I've also recently started to learn some Jazz tunes (although it will still take some time for me to become more comfortable with the genre).

Currently, I'm featuring two works from my senior recital.

Sonata no. 10 in C Major, K. 330 by W. A. Mozart

Suite Española by Isaac Albéniz, Op. 47
