Building Strong Foundations and Promoting Inclusivity

I offer piano lessons through Hip Cat Music School in Downtown Bloomington. I teach both in the music studio, and in students' homes when requested.

As a teacher, my primary goal with each of my students is to build a strong foundation of important piano techniques as well as essential music theory topics. I also respect my students' personal goals and wishes when it comes to their lesson experience, so students always have some input as to what they are learning and playing. As my students progress, they are exposed to music from a variety of cultures and time periods, they are introduced to music theory (and even composition!), and they are trained in the diverse range of techniques available on the piano. 

I accept students of all backgrounds and abilities. I have a great deal of experience working with kids with ADHD, and for all of my students I strive to pace lessons in a way that is enjoyable, ability-positive, and ultimately educational.
